(ODON) - The WestGate College Fair is just over a month away, with valuable scholarships still up for grabs.
On October 6, more than 21 colleges and universities will set up shop at the WestGate Academy Conferencing and Training Center to talk to students from regional high schools.
This college fair is about more than finding the right school, it is also an opportunity to win valuable scholarships.
Organizers say three scholarships are currently available, and so far, no applications have been received. The scholarships are open to all seniors, including homeschoolers.
"We need to get the word out to our seniors that these awards are there for them. They need to apply, and they need to be at the College Fair on October 6 in order to win," said Melissa Pittman, of STIMULUS Engineering Services, Inc.
Pittman has been working to coordinate schools and students for the second annual WestGate College Fair, which she says was very well attended in its first year.
"This year, we expect upwards of 800 students here at the WestGate Academy," Pittman said, noting that many of those students will be juniors and even underclassmen, so local seniors have good reason to get their scholarship applications turned in soon.
Two $500 scholarships and one $1,000 scholarship will be awarded, however seniors must be present at the College Fair to accept their awards and certificates.
The 2014 WestGate@Crane College Fair Scholarship Guidelines are available online at media.wix.com.
