(BLOOMFIELD) - The 45th Annual Apple Festival kicks off this morning and will feature events all weekend at the Bloomfield Town Park.
The Greene County Daily World reports that the event will feature carnival rides, different kinds of foods, a variety of vendors, live entertainment, and more.
A free shuttle will be available from downtown Bloomfield to the Park and there will be handicap parking available at the Bloomfield High School Cafeteria parking lot.
The event kicks off this morning with a breakfast served at the Northwest Shelter House starting at 6 a.m. sponsored by the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge.
Opening Prayer will take place at 9 a.m. followed by the Presentation of Colors by the Bloomfield Junior/Senior High School NJROTC and the singing of the National Anthem by Center Stage at 9:15 a.m.
The Bloomfield High School Band will take the stage at 10 a.m.
Throughout the day the Bloomfield High school Art Club will be creating paintings of the festival throughout the park from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The Apple Festival Queen, Cecila Craig, and her court will be formally presented at 5 p.m followed by the Little Mr. and Miss Apple Festival and Baby Contest winners at 5:30 p.m.
At 6 p.m. the Deep Fried Rye will perform classic rock and country music before the Pizza Eating Contest, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Open Shelterhouse.
D.J. GC Boomers will end the night with music starting at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, the Bloomfield Lions Club will be sponsoring a breakfast at the South Shelterhouse at 6 a.m.
At 9 a.m. there will be opening prayer, the American Legion Color Guard will do the presentation of colors, and the Apple Festival 5K Run/Walk will kick off at the Library.
Jordan Nickless will perform the National Anthem at 9:15.
Nickless is scheduled to take the stage at noon as well and Kade Puckett will follow at 1 p.m. with his presentation of fingerstyle guitar.
Registration for the Classic Cruisers Car show will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the town square. Awards for the show will be given at 3 p.m.
At 1:30 p.m. the Bloomfield Junior/Senior High School Art Club Painting Group will hold a silent Auction and the Family Life Center will have a Quilt Auction at 2 p.m.
At 4 p.m. Rob Barry and The Rebel Storm will perform until 7 p.m. when Haywire will take over the stage.
Vendors will open for business at 9 a.m. both mornings.
Jessop Amusements will also have a carnival at the park throughout the weekend. Bracelets for the carnival will be available for $18 on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The annual art and photography show will be taking place at the Main Branch of the Bloomfield Eastern Greene Public Library Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Other events will include a Whiffle Ball Tournament and Apple Baking Contest.
The annual parade will take place on Sunday starting at 2 p.m.
