(BEDFORD) - Bedford Park Director Barry Jeskewich is pleased with the city’s Community Garden, a 8.8 acre area on 24th Street just east of Mitchell Road.
And the garden continues to thrive with fall produce.
In 2012 there were 15 occupied lots, 37 in 2013, and this past summer there were 43 participants gardening plots.
Jeskewich says the Community Gardens enhance nutrition and physical activity and promote the quality of life.
Therefore, the parks department plans to continue expanding the program, as long as interest and space exists.
Crews will be tilling the soil and winterizing the shed beginning Oct. 23.
