(UNDATED) - Hoosier Hills Food Bank won a $60,000 grant in Walmart’s “Fight Hunger. Spark Change” campaign.
The food bank tied for 44th placing, placing it among the 50 banks in the country winning the grant.
When voting ends at midnight Sunday, the food bank was just 28 more votes ahead of the food bank that placed 50th.
HHFB will use the grant to provide a year's supply of peanut butter, jelly and bread to at least six food pantries in the region, including Area 10 Agency on Aging and Mother's Cupboard and mobile food pantries in Bedford, Mitchell, Shoals and Orleans. Smaller amounts of PBJ will also be available to HHFB's 90-plus other partner agencies.
