(MITCHELL) - Mitchell Mayor and Clerk Treasurer George James signed off on the sales agreement for the Mitchell Opera House.
The city sold the property to Hoosier Uplands for $1. Hoosier Uplands is expected to restore the property.
Built in 1902, the building has served as a vaudeville theater, fire and police department and city hall before being reverted back to a theater in 1980's.
The building now sits empty. The plan is to restore the building and use it as a theater.
