(MITCHELL) - Mitchell Police Chief Mike Hardman is stressing the importance of locking vehicles and removing valuables.
During the past weekend, the city of Mitchell has had a rash of vehicle break-in and thefts.
Officers have no suspects at this time, but believe a group of juveniles may be responsible. Police are urging homeowners to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
From Saturday through early this morning, at least four vehicles were stolen from various locations in the city and several others were broken into and items taken.
Hardman stresses to not leave any items of value in the vehicles - including cash, billfolds, purses or other items.
"They are looking for cash," Hardman says. "Spare change left in plain view is an easy target especially if the vehicle is left unlocked."
Those with information on the thefts and break-ins are urged to call 849-2151.
