'Ladies For Liberty' Brings Big Band Era To Bedford

(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Concert Association will bring the Big Band Era with “Ladies for Liberty” to the Bedford North Lawrence Performing Arts Center on November 8.

"An Evening in 1944" is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Bedford North Lawrence High School Performing Arts Center.

The concert will feature a group of six women that will "impeccably revive the great music from the 1940s and World War II era with Andrews Sisters style."

Charles Edwards, president of the LCCA, reports the group will be accompanied by Bedford's Nostalgia Band.

Frank Battaglia, the Nostalgia Band's leader, estimated 90 percent of the Ladies for Liberty portion of the show will be performed with the Nostalgia Band providing the music.

Dave Morthland, who has assisted the concert association in various ways in the past, is helping with show which will feature dancers from Kat's Performing Arts Studio in Bedford.

The show will start with a family sitting in their living room listening to radio war news, the USO Show will be announced along with old-time commercials between performances.

Those who are not subscribers to the LCCA season can attend the show for $20 per person. Anyone who is younger than 18 can attend for free if accompanied by a paying adult.
