(SALEM) - A Salem man is in critical condition after a moped accident Thursday on State Road 56 East.
Ronald Freed of Salem was driving a moped on State Road 56 East when he was struck by a van driven by Charlotte Lykins of Salem.
Freed was taken by helicopter to the University of Louisville, according to Capt. Scott Schocke of the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
According to police, Lykins was traveling east on State Road 56 East and was attempting to pass Freed, when Freed turned the moped into a driveway at 6394 Old State Road 56 East.
Lykins struck the moped in the rear.
The accident is still under investigation.
