(UNDATED) - A homeless woman is facing multiple charges of false informing after prosecutors say she lied about being raped multiple times.
Court records show Tiffany McGinnis is charged with two counts of false informing in Morgan County, as well as another charge of false informing in Lawrence County.
Records show McGinnis reported being raped by different assailants on April 22 in Bedford, May 5 in Bedford, July 25 in Bloomington, July 28 in Bedford, July 31 in Indianapolis, Aug. 2 in Martinsville and again on Aug. 5 in Martinsville.
McGinnis reported being raped to Bedford police, Indianapolis police and Martinsville police, who all devoted time to investigate the allegations.
While investigating the allegations, Martinsville police Detective Lachelle Maurer contacted Julie Morrison, a nurse at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital.
According to a probable cause affidavit, McGinnis told the social worker that she only reported the rapes because then people had to help her and provide her with a place to stay.
Suspects interviewed by police all denied raping McGinnis, saying the sex was consensual, and one suspect told police McGinnis was "selling herself" on the street.
Police also say McGinnis had a pattern of claiming she was hit over the head with a baseball bat by her ex-boyfriend.
She is due for court appearances in Lawrence County Oct. 29 and in Morgan County Dec. 4.
