(FREETOWN) - The Indiana Department of Transportation has postponed replacement of a bridge on State Road 58 in Jackson County.
The work had been scheduled to begin Wednesday, but now INDOT expects the work can begin next week.
The bridge, between Freetown and Kurtz, spans a branch of Bee Creek, almost four miles west of State Road 135.
The $845,497 project calls for the road to be closed for 60 days. A detour will route motorists around the closure via State Road 446, U.S. 50 and State Road 135.
HIS Constructors, the state's contractor, is charged with relocating the State Road 58 bridge -- and the creek channel -- about 30 feet to the east. The roadway also will be raised nearly five feet.
