(BEDFORD) - Zombies will be roaming the Bedford North Lawrence High School cross country course Saturday.
The only hope is for those attending the Zombie Run 2014 is to outrun them and out maneuver them while navigating five obstacles.
The Zombie Run is a fund raiser for the Business Professionals of America, a North Lawrence Career Center student organization. Next semester BPA students will compete in various IT categories with the goal of advancing to nationals in Anaheim, California.
About 20 students have volunteered to put on zombie costumes and makeup for the chance to scare unsuspecting runners, says Dana Haddan, graphic communications teacher at North Lawrence Career Center and BPA adviser.
Registration is from 9 a.m. till 11:30 a.m. with the race starting at noon.
The 5K run will include five obstacles, ranging from climbing over hay bales to running through tires.
Each runner will wear three flags at the start of the race, which the zombies will try to grab. The goal is to finish with at least one flag, meaning you survived the Zombie attack.
At the halfway point, runners will receive an "antidote" to help keep them alive for the rest of the race. In a couple of places, runners must pass through "zombie walls" where the trail will narrow with zombies on each side of the "wall."
Runners are encouraged to wear costumes.
Entry forms are available at Copy Trolley at 16th and M streets. The entry fee is $10 for students or $15 with a t-shirt. The fee for non-students is $20 or $25 with a t-shirt.
