(BEDFORD) - An Orleans woman was injured Thursday afternoon after her vehicle was struck on Ind. 37 near Wesley Chapel Road.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 22-year-old Landon Ikerd of Bedford was traveling west on Wesley Chapel Road and pulled across the southbound lanes of Ind. 37 and was beginning to cross the northbound lanes when his 1997 Jeep Wrangler stuck the driver's side of 47-year-old Ellen Percifield's 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The impact caused Percifield's vehicle to go down a steep embankment and through a fence before stopping against a sign pole. Ikerd was not injured during the incident but Percifield, who had to be freed from the vehicle, complained of back pain.
Assisting at the scene was the Marion Volunteer Fire Department, the Bedford Fire Department extrication unit, an IU Health Hospital ambulance and the Bedford Police Department.
