Last updated on Monday, November 10, 2014

(GREENE CO.) - Alleged alcohol and a deer contributed to accident in Southeastern Greene County.

A one-vehicle property damage accident on Owensburg Road lead to an arrest last week.

36-year-old John R. Bingham was driving north on Nov. 4 when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The Springville resident oversteered and drove his 2004 Ford Ranger off the west side of the road before overcorrecting and running off the east side of the road. Bingham then hit a guardrail/bridge rail and rolled his vehicle.

According to Brown, Bingham smelled like alcohol and was later arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a BAC of .103.

Greene County Deputy Jeff Brown reminded everyone that deer are currently a problem in the area, noting that the department has worked nearly 20 car accidents involving deer since Nov. 2.

Owensburg Fire Department assisted at the scene.
