(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was injured Sunday afternoon when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.
According to a Lawrence County police report, 23-year-old Melvin Lillard was traveling south on Tunnelton Road when he lost control of his 2002 Oldsmobile Alero and ran off the west side of the road.
The rear passenger side of the vehicle then struck a tree. That caused the vehicle to spin around and travel back onto the roadway and then slide off the west side of the road and stop when the driver's side struck a tree.
Lillard suffered contusions and bruises to his head and was taken by a Seals ambulance to IU Health Hospital for treatment.
According to police, Lillard was traveling too fast for road conditions. A passenger, who was not listed on the police report, was not injured during the incident.
