(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Parks Board adopted a new fee schedule for Otis Park Golf Course, John Lowery Pool and the rental of city shelter houses.
The Times Mail reports that Parks Director Barry Jeskewich proposed a fee schedule that required an additional charge for all out-of-town patrons. When board member Butch Fish asked the reason for the increase for non-city guests, Jeskewich says the request came from the city's clerk/treasurer's office.
Fish suggested a simplified plan with basic fees for adults, seniors and students, regardless of residential status. The board considered tabling the matter, but continued the discussion, reviewing each fee separately.
Fish, Angela Sanders, Tim Deckard, Trevor Rynders and Tracy Bailey then voted 5-0 to accept Jeskewich's recommendation but to scratch the increased fee for non-residents. They also voted to reduce rental of a spectator cart from a proposed $13 for nine holes to $10 saying the elderly and others with physical disabilities cannot view a golf match without use of a golf cart.
The 2015 golf membership will be $340 for adults, $224 for seniors, $130 for students, $225 for active military, and $170 for full-time city employees.
The new schedule also includes a $20 course special that can be employed at the park director's discretion. Jeskewich said the special will be in effect at the beginning of the 2015 season.
Pool membership is $40 for adults and $25 for children. A daily pass is $3 for adults and $2.50 for children.
Two shelter fees were increased. Wilson Park Shelter went from $50 to $75 and the Red Brick rose from $100 to $150.
