Devin Davis Jumped In Front Of Vehicle, Holt Suspended

Last updated on Tuesday, November 4, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police Department say Indiana University sophomore forward Devin Davis jumped in front of a vehicle driven by teammate Emmitt Holt, leading to Saturday morning’s accident outside Memorial Stadium.

According to the report, 19-year-old Davis had been drinking prior to the accident.

Davis, who suffered a head injury, is recovering in the IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

IU Coach Tom Crean says he is confident Davis will recover.

Davis was struck by a car driven by 18-year-old Holt after entering onto 17th street just outside Memorial Stadium on Oct. 31.

Holt was cited for illegal consumption and for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol under age 21.

"I sincerely regret my actions and I understand that I must be held accountable to the high standards that coach Crean and IU have set for all of us," Holt said in a press release.

"I want to apologize to Coach, to my teammates and to the entire IU community for not living up to the expectations that this program and university deserve. I will work hard in the coming days, weeks and months to become a better man and teammate."

Crean has suspended Holt for the first four games of the season.

Crean also has suspended guard Stanford Robinson and forward Troy Williams for four games for what coach Tom Crean described as "poor choices."

Robinson and Williams, both returning starters, were expected to have major roles with the Hoosiers this season.

This is only adding insult to injury for Tom Crean, with many IU fans calling for him to resign or be fired saying he's lost control of the program.
