(SEYMOUR) - The Indiana Department of Transportation will host a public meeting/open house Thursday to disseminate information about development of a storm water program in compliance with federal regulations.
The meeting is scheduled to take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the INDOT Seymour District facility, located at 185 Agrico Lane.
The storm water program is implemented by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
As a significant contributor of storm water to Indiana waterways, INDOT has worked with IDEM to develop its own Storm Water Quality Management Plan (SWQMP) in support of the highway department's full application for a storm water permit from IDEM under general Rule 13. Acceptance of this plan would allow INDOT to fully function as an individual MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) throughout the state and be in compliance with state and federal storm water rules.
Thursday's open house begins with a formal presentation at 4:00 p.m. After that, area residents, businesses and other interested parties will have opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns or talk about other storm water management issues with INDOT representatives.
Related information materials can be viewed at Thursday's meeting or at INDOT's Ecology & Waterway Permitting web page: http://www.in.gov/indot/2892.htm.
