(UNDATED) - Large animal owners should provide sheriff’s departments with contact information.
According to the Greene County Sheriff's Department, a pony was found wandering around on east State Road 59 last week, but police didn't know who it belonged to.
Dispatchers began receiving numerous calls about the pony and concerns that it was going to be hit by a vehicle.
A person in the area, took care of the pony, keeping it safe until the owner could be contacted.
In the meantime, dispatchers began making calls to everyone in the area in an attempt to find the owner.
It took several hours and numerous calls to locate the owner.
Police are asking anyone with large animals to contact their sheriff's department and provide updated contact information if they own farm animals, so they can get in touch with you easily if one of your animals wanders off.
