(FORT RITNER) - A Bedford man was arrested after he battered his girlfriend early this morning.
Lawrence County Police officers were called to a home in the 30 block of Nancy Street at 12:03 a.m. after a woman reported she was injured during a domestic fight.
The woman then left her home and went to a family member's home in the 4100 block of Fort Ritner Road.
According to Chief Deputy Mike Branham, 57-year-old Richard Brookover also went to that home.
"The victim came outside to speak to Mr. Brookover and the two got into another physical confrontation on the front porch," Branham says. "A male resident at the home came out and intervened. Officers responded to that home and found the woman had noticeable injuries. She did file a battery affidavit against Mr. Brookover."
Officers then returned to the home on Nancy Street and arrested Brookover without incident on charges of domestic battery and strangulation.
