Boeglin was driving a a 2003 Dodge Neon and went off the west side of the road and struck some landscaping stonework and then struck a utility pole. The pole was snapped and laying on the ground.
The Dodge was on its driver's side against the pole and an electric wire was exposed and other lines were down and across the vehicle.
Dubois Rural Electric employees were called to ensure the downed lines were not a threat to emergency personnel who needed to access the vehicle. After the lines were declared safe, the front seat passenger, 19-year-old Justin Wright of Jasper had to be freed from the vehicle and was transported to Memorial Hospital and then transferred to St. Mary's Medical Center where the driver died from injuries suffered in the accident.
