(BLOOMFIELD) - Because of a detour and road closure forced by the I-69 Project, the Greene County Commissioners approved the installation of a four-way stop at the intersection of County Road 325S and 1250E.
The action stems from concerns over the increased use of Owensburg-Hobbieville Road because of a detour imposed by the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Commissioners voted to place the stop signs there due to the heavy traffic flow from Owensburg to State Road 54 and the steep incline and the narrowness of Inman Road. The lay of the land near the intersection along with the detour INDOT has installed bolstered concerns.
The new stop sign will be installed on Monday, allowing drivers enough notice to expect the change. Currently, the intersection is only a stop for drivers on Inman Road in either direction, now traffic to and from Owensburg or Hobbieville will also be affected.
Plans are for the intersection to remain a four-way stop at least until spring, then a re-assessment of the situation will be done before a decision is made to extend the change until the I-69 Project is completed in the area.
