Roosevelt Mission Forced To Sell Property

Last updated on Wednesday, November 26, 2014

(LINTON) - The Roosevelt Mission has announced that they will be selling their property located at 89 East Vincennes Street in Linton.

The Greene County Daily World reports that the ministry suffered from several mishaps during the harsh weather last winter and has been working to gain financial stability ever since.

For the past 27 years, the mission has served the Linton community as a homeless shelter and food pantry supplying those in need with food, clothing, shelter, housing, abuse assistance, training, and counseling. During their time in the area they have assisted over 60,000 people.

Reverend Jerry French, who has served as the Director of the Roosevelt Mission for the last 14 years, is asking the community to continue to support the mission until they have found a new home.

The mission recommends those in need of a warm meal this Thanksgiving call the First Christian Church and any family needing help with Christmas for their children to sign up with Civitan.

French hopes that they will continue to have the support of the community while they work to relocate.

French also noted that the mission currently houses some children. Anyone who would like to help these children during the holidays is encouraged to call the mission at (812) 847-8110.
