(BLOOMFIELD) - The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce’s 5K Santa Run is this Sunday.
The event begins at 2 p.m. Sunday with registration from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is $15 per person.
All race activities begin and end in the parking lot of Casa Sevilla Mexican Restaurant.
Even though the event is not timed, prizes will be given for the fastest male and fastest female runner. Prizes will also be given for the best holiday attire. All runners will receive a Santa hat.
Proceeds from the race will be used by the Chamber of Commerce to replace strands of lights and add to the current lights for this holiday season.
The race is part of Bloomfield's fourth annual Hometown Christmas celebration, which is scheduled from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday.
On the day of the event, merchants, including the Lighthouse Lunch Box, Floyd's Flowers and Gifts, Michelle's Creations, Primitive Decor and More, The Dancing Bear, Season's Greetings, Aggie's, and Grandma's Goodies, will be open downtown.
Carriage rides will be available on the south side of the square and a shuttle service will be offered from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. to the Shawnee Theatre Festival of Trees.
Vendors will be open at a few locations downtown from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Mrs. Claus and Santa will arrive via fire truck at 3 p.m. Nick Schneider will be taking photos of children with Santa, and Greene County Regional Title will provide free cookies and hot chocolate.
There will be Christmas music on the steps of the courthouse, with live music from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. In the case of rain, the music will be located in the Methodist Church. Anyone interested in participating in the music should contact Teresa Parkes at the First Christian Church.
The Presbyterian Women will have angels on display in the windows of the Miles Building located at 34 E. Main Street.
Happy Matt's BBQ will be set up on the square, and the Mansions in Heaven will be selling gyros and more at 201 S. Franklin St.
