(LEESVILLE) - Seven people were injured in a near head-on crash on Middle Leesville Road Wednesday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, officers were alerted to the crash at 7:53 a.m. at Middle Leesville Road and Lower Leesville Road.
70-year-old Lyla McIlvaine was traveling southeast on Middle Leesville Road while 31-year-old Natalie Cody was traveling northwest on Middle Leesville Road. Both vehicles were at the intersection of Lower Leesville Road at the curve.
Police say McIlvaine's 2010 Dodge Journey crossed the centerline while making the curve and collided with Cody's 1999 Ford F150.
McIlvaine complained of back pain. Her passenger 73-year-old Richard McIlvaine, who suffers from dementia and could not communicate with police, was holding his chest. However Lyla refused treatment for both of them.
Cody and her passengers; 6-year-old Buddy Jones, 13-year-old Peyton Jones, 3-year-old Dixie Jones and 8-year-old Zane Jaceccko; complained of head pain. All refused treatment at the scene.
Lyla McIlvaine was cited for driving left of center and Cody was cited for child restraint violations.
