(INDIANAPOLIS) - Springs Valley’s Blackhawk Brigade marching band placed second in its class in Saturday’s Indiana State School Music Association state championships.
The Brigade, directed by Luke Aylsworth, finished behind Forest Park, marching in Class D.
Springs Valley advanced to the championship round, at Lucas Oil Stadium, by ranking in the top 10 bands participating at Franklin. The trip marked the Blackhawk Brigade's 25th appearance in the state finals.
The 2014 show was themed "What If?"
Springs Valley, last year, received the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation's Best Communities for Music Education distinction and a Support Music Merit Award. In addition, the school earned a Peabody Energy Leaders in Education Award.
