(UNDATED) - Thanksgiving is perhaps the most cooking-centered day of the year - but it also has three times as many cooking fires as any other day.
Apart from not leaving food unattended, Fire Marshal Jim Greeson says there are fire prevention steps you should take, like cleaning grease and other residue out of the oven before the turkey goes in.
Cooking fires are responsible for nearly half of all house fires, making it the most common fire cause.
