(BEDFORD) - Today is Election Day and the polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.
Contested races this year are the sheriff's race. Sam Craig is finishing his second consecutive term, and, by state law, cannot run again.
There are four candidates running for sheriff: Democrat Bill Allen, Republican Mike Branham, Libertarian Darin S. Kinser, and an independent candidate John C. Sherrill.
In County council race: Democrat, Brandon Hedrick is challenging Republican Mark Mathis for the District 3 seat on the Lawrence County Council.
Three of the four North Lawrence school board seats are contested. Incumbent Kirsten Collier is facing Benjamin C. Kimmel for the District 1 seat. Bob Evans and Alan Norman are challenging incumbent Gary Holmes in District 2, and Brianna L. Miller and Beth Ritter are challenging incumbent Bradley R. Flinn for the District 3 seat.
1340 AM WBIW, Super Oldies 105.5 WQRK and Z102 WPHZ (102.5) will keep listeners posted with election results as they come in.
