(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington might have a new hospital in about three years.
IU Health Bloomington Hospital's board of directors has presented a formal request to the IU Health system's board to build a replacement facility for its aging hospital, and IU Health's board will likely make a final decision in a few weeks.
IU Health system also operates facilities in Bedford and Paoli.
The Herald Times reports that the replacement hospital in Bloomington would be an approximately 200-bed inpatient facility featuring all private rooms; adjacent to it would be a robust, outpatient ambulatory center with a separate entryway. The current hospital has 279 inpatient beds.
