(GREENE CO.) - Greene County Coroner Sherri Wilson confirmed late Saturday afternoon that the body of a deceased individual had been found and an autopsy has been scheduled to take place at 8 a.m. today at Terre Haute Regional Hospital by forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr.
Wilson declined to release any other details.
Greene County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. George Dallaire confirmed investigators had been on the scene after a body was found in shallow water in a small creek with approximately 18 inches of water at a location in a ditch along Bolton Road near Linton.
Tyler Lewellyn was walking along a creek bed searching for aquarium rocks when he discovered the body.
Lewellyn called 911 and the Greene County Sheriff's Department responded.
An investigation is underway and more information will be released as it becomes available. The deceased is a white male, but a positive identification of the body could take some time due to its deterioration. The cause of death is undetermined at this time.
No additional details about the identity of the deceased, the cause of death or the ongoing investigation are expected to be released until after the autopsy.
Detective Sergeant George Dallaire is the investigating officer, and Linton Fire and Rescue, Greene County Coroners Office, and Greene County Ambulance Service have assisted during the investigation.
