(COLUMBUS) - Columbus East tailback Markell Jones has been chosen as Indiana’s Football Player of the Year by USA Today and Gatorade.
The award was announced this morning on the USA Today website, based on Jones rushing for 3,536 yards on 312 carries and 60 touchdowns this past season. Jones led the Olympians to the Class 4A semistate. His career rushing yardage puts him second in state history.
Jones has maintained a 3.23 GPA and will be going to Purdue this spring.
