(CUZCO) - A barn was destroyed after a juvenile had been playing with fire in the barn near Cuzco Sunday night.
Dubois firefighters were called to the property of Ralph Brosmer on North Cuzco Road South at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a 40'x 60′, 2-story barn already burned to the point it had collapsed.
Dubois Volunteer Firefight Zach Eichmiller says the old barn was a beam-type structure, built with very dry wood which caused the fire to spread quickly.
A tanker was called in from Celestine to assist in shuttling water to extinguish the flames. Firefighters battled the blaze just over two hours.
The barn, which was not insured, was destroyed, but according to the owner contained only minimal contents.
The juvenile, who is family member, received a lengthy lecture about the dangers of his actions by Chief Steve Kalb and Dubois County sheriff deputies.
