(BEDFORD) - Bedford North Lawrence Community School Superintendent Gary Conner issued a School Reach message just before noon saying officials are closely monitoring the situation in Mitchell.
Conner spoke with Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, who has officers in the Mitchell area searching for two suspects.
Parsley informed Conner there was no need to move to lock down status at this time.
Conner assured parents that he has been in contact with Mitchell Community School officials and has assured parents that no buses or students who are now at North Lawrence schools will be transported to or from Mitchell until the situation becomes safe.
Chief Parsley will keep Conner posted on the situation in Mitchell and will alert Conner immediately if the school needs to go into lock down status.
Conner says if the school does go on lock down he will contact parents via a School Reach message.
