(CLAY CO.) - A Hymera man was shot after he allegedly forced his way into a home north of Brazil on Ind. 59 Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, 42-year-old Jeffrey Frakes allegedly threatened to kill the resident.
The resident, who had a protective order against Frankes, was able to get a handgun and began firing shots at Frakes. The resident then called 911 and reported they had fired shots at Frankes. The caller also reported that earlier the same day, Frakes had entered their home and broken items inside and that Frakes had just been released from the Clay County Jail on Sunday, where he was serving a sentence for domestic violence against the resident.
Several deputies from the Clay County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene to discover Frakes had fled the home, got into his mother's vehicle, and fled the scene.
Officers eventually found Franks at his mother's home in Hymera. He had suffered two gunshot wounds and was taken to Sullivan County Community Hospital where he is now listed in stable condition.
