(SHOALS) - Indiana State Police and parole officers arrested three Shoals residents on drug and weapon charges Tuesday morning.
Around 10:50 a.m. Trooper Jarrod Lents assisted two parole officers in conducting a parole search at the home of 47-year-old Darren Bruce Stone in Shoals.
When officers knocked on the door they were greeted by 32-year-old Julie Lents. She told police that she and 20-year-old Katie Stone-Payne were the only two people at the home.
Trooper Lents, in order to ensure the safety of the officers, performed a protective sweep of the home. During that search he found Stone hiding behind a shower curtain in the shower.
While searching the home, police found a loaded .22 caliber handgun, marijuana roaches and drug paraphernalia in plain view in the living room.
As a convicted serious violent felon, Stone is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Police obtained a search warrant for the home and outbuildings on the property.
During a search officers also found two baggies of marijuana, a straw containing meth and additional drug paraphernalia.
Stone, Lents, and Payne were all arrested and transported to the Martin County Jail.
Arrested and Charges:
Darren Bruce Stone, 47
Julie E. Lents, 32
Katie D. Stone-Payne, 20
State Police and State Parole Officers were assisted by the Martin County Sheriff's Department.
