(VEVAY) - A Vevay woman who pleaded guilty to bank fraud has been ordered to repay more than $48,000 to a bank where she was once a loan manager.
Tammy M. Hayes pleaded guilty to fraud on a financial institution in August in exchange for prosecutors dropping a theft charge she had faced.
Hayes had been a loan mortgage originator for MainSource Bank in Vevay and is a member of the Switzerland County school board.
She was accused of taking mortgage loan appraisal fees paid by customers either financing or refinancing loans, and converting those fees to cash for her personal use.
Hayes was sentenced last week. She was ordered to pay nearly $48,270 in restitution and to perform 80 hours of community service.
