(UNDATED) - January is national blood donor month, and the American Red Cross is asking donors to give blood regularly in 2015.
Because red blood cells have a shelf life of 42 days, they must constantly be replenished to keep up the supply patients need. Donors of all blood types, especially O negative, A negative and B negative, are needed.
You can donate blood on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1010 22nd St., and at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, 11265 U.S. 50 West.
In Mitchell, donors can give blood Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home, 24 Teke Burton Drive.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org or call (800) 733-2767.
