(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he allegedly shoved his wife.
According to Sheriff Mike Branham, officers were called to a home on East Martin Lane just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The woman says that her husband, 35-year-old Jason Smith, had came to her mother's home to give her some money. The couple is separated.
The woman claims the two began to argue and that is when Smith allegedly grabbed her arm, broke her cell phone and shoved her against the wall.
"All of this happened in the presence of their 5-year-old daughter," Branham added. "The argument continued into another room, where Mr. Smith allegedly turned over a recliner while his wife was sitting in it holding their daughter, causing Mrs. Smith to hit her head on a table."
The woman's mother who was also at the home witnessed the fight.
Smith was arrested without incident on charges of domestic battery and battery in the presence of a child under 16 and taken to jail.
