(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested Sunday morning after he entered a home on in the 2500 block of Sanders Lane and pointed a shotgun at a couple.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were contacted after a woman made a frantic 911 call at 4:11 a.m. reporting a man was in her home and had a gun and then hung up.
When officers arrived they saw two men exit the home and immediately placed both men in handcuffs.
"They were ordered to the ground and then placed in handcuffs for everyone's safety," Parsley says. "Then officers began investigating to find out what was happening."
Officers learned that 23-year-old Patrick Gary entered the home, walked into the couple's bedroom and pointed a loaded shotgun at them and said that he was going to shoot them.
"The woman then rolled out of bed and took cover, while the male confronted Mr. Gary and placed his hands on the shotgun in an attempt to keep it being pointed at anyone," Parsley says.
The man was then able to talk Gary into the other room, where the gun was unloaded.
"They then saw the lights from the police vehicles and walked outside," Parsley says.
Gary was arrested on charges of invasion of privacy, public intoxication, intimidation, residential entry, pointing a firearm and criminal recklessness with a weapon.
