(DAVIESS CO.) - BoBo the emu has become a celebrity in Daviess County. But the beloved emu is becoming a nuisance.
BoBo, who lives on State Road 57 north of Washington, is an escape artist. The Daviess County Sheriff's Department has received several complaints about the overly-friendly bird.
His owner, Shirley McCafferty says BoBo loves everyone and motorists stop and feed the friendly bird, but the Emu has escaped several times looking for attention and those tasty treats.
The Washington Times reports that on Thursday morning the sheriff's department received a call from a motorist reporting the pesky emu had pecked their vehicle. Then on Monday officer received numerous calls reporting BoBo was hanging out in the roadway.
Officers warned the family that they would have to do something to confine the adventurous BoBo or face a possible fine.
McCafferty is looking on purchasing a higher fence to contain her beloved pet. She is also training her dogs, a Doberman and German shepherd, to keep the bird contained and away from the roadway.
