(MITCHELL) - Carolyn Zeeks will succeed her husband Jack Zeeks on the Marion Township Advisory Board.
Jack Zeeks resigned after learning Indiana code prevents a person who serves as a volunteer firefighter from holding an elective office in the area they provide fire protection.
Zeeks, who serves on the Marion Volunteer Fire Department, opted to retain that role instead of serving on the board.
A caucus was held by the Marion Township precinct committeemen Monday. Two candidates sought the position, Carolyn Zeeks and Linda Greene.
Carolyn Zeeks was chosen to fill the position.
