(DAVIESS CO.) - Daviess County Community Corrections will soon be moving to a new building on West Walnut Street in Washington.
The agency has been operating out of two rooms in at the Daviess County Security Center.
The Washington Herald reports that last year community corrections purchased the former Daviess County Hospital Clinic to convert into office spaces. Now they are adding a second building for classes and programming.
Also programs and classes like drug and alcohol, cognitive behavior and life skills are being developed to help keep people from re-entering the prison system.
Officials are also working with Samaritan Center for those being released from prison on a re-entry program.
The buildings cost around $70,000 with furnishing and equipment around $40,000.
Official plan to host an open house on March 4.
