(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana State Excise Police officers arrested or cited 23 people late Friday night and early Saturday during patrols near Indiana University.
According to Cpl. Brandon Thomas, officers issued 26 summonses or citations to 13 minors and 10 adults.
Ten summonses were for the charge of illegal possession or consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
Two summonses were issued for disorderly conduct and one summons was issued for possession of a false identification. Officers also issued citations for various traffic related offenses including 10 seatbelt violations.
One 19-year-old Bloomington resident was preliminarily charged with possession of a controlled substance as well as illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage early Saturday morning.
Officers stopped the vehicle the suspect was riding in after they observed it make an illegal "U" turn at 3 a.m. The suspect was allegedly found to be in possession of numerous Xanax pills that he did not have a prescription for.
