(LINTON) - The Linton Fire Department and Linton Police Department responded to a fire at Musselman Apartments in Linton late Sunday night.
Firefighters were dispatched around 10 p.m. after a report of flames shooting out of an apartment on the top floor on the north side of the complex.
One man was injured and two apartments were heavily damaged - one by fire and the other by water - according to Linton Fire Chief Brad Sparks.
The man, who firefighters are not naming, suffered burns to his face, chest, feet and arms. He was taken to Wishard Hospital for treatment.
When firefighters arrived at the home flames were shooting out the windows.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen area.
Linton Fire Chief Brad Sparks explained that the department was called to the scene during Sunday night's power outage, but that the outage did not cause a problem for firefighters.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but Sparks believes it could have entailed from a stove that was left on.
The fire marshal will be on the scene today to investigation.
