(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana State Police Troopers arrested 23-year-old Tyler S. Verhines of Bedford early Sunday morning in a local hotel.
Verhines was wanted on a warrant for resisting law enforcement in Lawrence County.
He is also accused of fleeing from a trooper after he attempted to stop him for speeding Friday morning, on Ind. 37, just north of the Ind. 45/46 Bypass.
Master Trooper Todd Durnil was watching for speeding vehicles when a yellow Chevrolet Cobalt was stopped traveling northbound at 89 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.
M/Trooper Durnil activated his emergency lights and sirens to make the traffic stop, when the Cobalt quickly turned onto Acuff Road and proceeded eastbound.
The pursuit ended on Tunnel Road near Lake Lemon, where Verhnies left the Chevy Cobalt at a dead end.
M/Trooper Durnil and Indiana Conservation Officer Kerry Griffith were able to provide a description of the driver - Verhnies - as he fled the scene.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Department, along with the Bloomington Police Department K9 was called to the scene to assist with the search of Verhnies.
Officers inventoried the vehicle and found an Verhnies' identification.
The investigation will be forwarded to the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office for their review.
