Man Killed After ATV Flips

Last updated on Monday, January 26, 2015

(HYMERA) - A Hymera man was killed after he crashed his ATV early Friday morning.

According to a Department of Natural Resource report, 26-year-old John Tidd was driving a 2013 Polaris Ranger about two miles north of Hymera near the intersection of County Road 875 North and County Road 800 East around 1:25 a.m. when he lost control of the ATV, causing it to overturn. Tidd was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger 25-year-old Sylvan Martin of Odon was not injured.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt or helmet at the time of the crash.

Indiana Conservation Officers would like to remind everyone never operate an ATV while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and always utilize available safety equipment.
