(SULLIVAN CO.) - Johnus Orr could face up to 65 years in prison if found guilty on each count of murder. He is accused of strangling his step-sister Tiffanie Adams and killing her unborn son; Adams was 8 months pregnant when she was killed.
Orr appeared via video conference Thursday afternoon in Sullivan County for his initial hearing. A plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf. Judge Hugh Hunt scheduled a pre-trial date for 9 a.m. April 16, with a May 11 jury trial scheduled. Orr is being held in the Sullivan County Jail with no bond.
At this time, officials are not releasing any information in regards to what the motive behind the murder was.
Tiffanie was last seen on November 5 walking from her father's home on North Broad Street to her mother's residence nearly one block away. Her family reported her missing on November 7, 2014.
On the afternoon of December 30, 2014, a farmer found Tiffanie's remains while harvesting corn in a farm field near CR 300 North and CR 325 East, northeast of Sullivan.
The coroner identified Adams' body by using dental records.
