(THALES) - Dubois County Coroner Bob Veatch has confirmed that the remains found at a burned farm house south of Thales Saturday night are those of a male decedent in his 50’s.
56-year old Michael Bauer is presumed to have perished in the fire. Bauer's family was informed Saturday night that remains were found in the area of Bauer's bedroom.
Veatch says a forensic anthropologist is now being consulted to make a positive identification of the remains.
According to the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters were called to a multiple structure fire at the home of Mike Bauer at 9779 North 400 East just after 3 p.m. Saturday.
When firefighters arrived they found that the home and three barn-type structures had burned to the ground.
