Three Arrested After Vehicle And Foot Pursuit In Brown County

(BROWN CO.) - Three people were arrested after a Brown County deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on traffic violation.

According to a police report, a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle being driven by 32-year-old Phillip Lasley of Plainfield for speeding on State Road 135 North on January 19.

Lasley refused to pull over and the deputy pursued the Ford truck until it crashed on Bean Blossom Road at Woodland Lake Road.

Lasley and his passengers, 29-year-old Cassi Hendershot of Nashville and 39-year-old Matthew Whetstine of Franklin, fled the vehicle.

The deputy deployed his taser stopping Lasley. Hendershot was apprehended by officers in a wooded area nearby. Whetstine was found lying in a field southeast of the scene of the accident.

While arresting Lasley, officers found Suboxone, a schedule III controlled substance.In Lasley's truck officers found a rifle, a shotgun and two pistols.

In 2002, Lasley was convicted of burglary, a Class B felony, in Brown County making it illegal for him to own firearms.

Lasley is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, two counts of resisting law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, driving while his driver's license was suspended and reckless driving.

Hendershot was charged with resisting law enforcement, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Whetstine was charged with resisting law enforcement.
