(HARTLEYVILLE) - Two people were injured Sunday afternoon in a crash on U.S. 50 West near Blue Springs Cavern Road.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 22-year-old Stacia Kern of Bedford was traveling west on U.S. 50 West when her 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix left the roadway and struck two mailboxes. The car continued west crossing the center line sideways and then began to skid to the left. The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the road over an embankment hitting a tree with the rear bumper. The car then flipped onto its top.
Kern, who was not wearing a seat belt, and her 3-year-old son, who was not properly restrained in his car seat, were ejected out the rear window of the car onto the ground.
Stacia complained of body pain following the incident and her son suffered head abrasions. Both were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
