(SALEM) - A Fredericksburg man suffered a head injury after he crashed his scooter on State Road 60 near Southway Villa on Monday afternoon.
According to the Salem Police Department, officers were alerted to the crash at 1:42 p.m.
Police say 40-year-old Chester Crabtree was not wearing a helmet when he got his scooter off the roadway and hit the rumble strip causing him to lose control and crash.
Police say Crabtree was intoxicated. Police found a half-full bottle of vodka in a milk crate on the back of the scooter.
Crabtree allegedly told paramedics he had drank one full bottle and that the bottle found on the scene was his second of the day.
Crabtree suffered some facial lacerations and was complaining of a sore ankle. Later, at the hospital, it was determined his head injuries were more severe and he was transport to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.
